Last month I was suffering from a bout of acid reflux.  The crisis reached a breaking point when I awoke at 2 AM gagging as my throat burned.  I had eaten Mexican food the previous day.  Now, my diet has been “healthy” for many years… well, at least more healthy than the average American.

However, I had been getting lax; eating more junk food, fast food, and developing an addiction to a chocolate/peanut butter brownie.  I had realized I was getting lazy with my diet.  However, I continued to ignore the problem until the acid reflux incident alarmed me into action.

So, I went on a green smoothie fast during the next 48 hours or so.  Though the fast was relatively short I noticed better clarity, improved sinuses, greater motivation, and disappearance of the acid reflux.  Going forward, I made a concerted effort to consume only alkaline products and food that wouldn’t send my stomach into a tumult.

I became intrigued with the idea of experimenting more with fasts.  The green drinks I blend in my Vitamix aren’t concocted with the intention of being pleasing to the pallet.   I began searching for green smoothies that taste good.  While investigating I stumbled upon an item called Green Thickies.

Green Smoothie Recipes that Taste Good

I purchased the ebook and found an intriguing set of recipes that motivated me to expand my typical drink that had grown boring.

I went on another smoothie fast that lasted for several days, using the recipes from the ebook.  I discovered this was a great diet for acid reflux and good health in general. Afterwards, I continued to use Green Thickies smoothies during the morning as my breakfast.  This has become a more enjoyable process than my former habit of throwing a bunch of things into the Vitamix and then blending.

The ebook contains recipes, other essential information and shopping lists for the full week.  The meal plan is based on ordinary food that can be purchased at the store.  It doesn’t involve supplements or other specialty foods.

Moreover, the plan is designed to assist with permanent weight loss.  Now, I didn’t need assistance with weight loss but other people have claimed that it does provide positive results.  Easy templates are provided to help with these goals.  Also, the book contains strategies to maintain motivation for a long-termplan of weight loss.

 

 

Problems with traditional diets

  • They are faddy.  They don’t tell you how to eat when you finish the diet so you pile back on any weight you’ve lost and more.
  • They are more focused on weight loss often at the expense of your health leading to nutritional deficiencies and health problems.
  • Meals take too long to prepare.

Special food or pre-packaged meals have to be bought which makes the diet very expensive and leads to dependencies on being able to acquire these products.

  1. Your content is packed with great information. I too suffer with acid reflux. But I found out the things that trigger it and stay away from them.
    One of the things I find is, if I am on an empty stomach, the acid reflux will really bother me. I end up eating just to make it go away. Any suggestions.

      I noticed the same problem. I did a 24 fast last night. My stomach with bothering, mild acid reflux. I drank an herbal containing Ginger and it helped alleviate the symptoms. I’d recommend keeping ginger handy for any stomach ailments. Also, eating a banana helps me,
